The Recipe for Finding Mompreneurial Success
When trying to get your life together as a working mom, does it ever feel like the “other shoe” is always about to drop? Juggling kids, work, cleaning, after-school activities, meetings, closings … it can make it feel like there are never enough hours in the day.
I’m here to tell you that it IS possible to have it all. YOU ARE ALLOWED to have it all. We as women have such an empowering role on this earth that we have the physical ability to do it all – from PTA to CEO; it’s pretty apparent we’re engineered to lead.
As just about any parent knows, raising kids is challenging enough. But parenting while growing a successful business? It can be even more complicated – if you let it be. Add on parenting during a pandemic all while expanding throughout the Pittsburgh real estate market? Well, that’s a whole different “challenge,” but one that’s been insanely rewarding.
There are no rules when it comes to balancing being a mom and an entrepreneur. Like any good recipe, the specifics change from chef to chef to suit taste, resources, and time. The main ingredients, though, are always the same:
- The desire to lean in
- A flexible work schedule
- Understanding that lines will blur
- Quality time with family in the office and at home
- A healthy support system outside of the family
It may have seemed like the pandemic limited a woman’s ability to be a mom and succeed in the business world. According to an analysis by the Census Bureau, 3.5 million mothers with school-aged kids left the workforce at the start of the pandemic in 2020. However, there are hundreds of ways to become a successful “mompreneur” today with access to the internet, education, and a drive to want a better life.
Let’s redefine what it means to be a mom AND an entrepreneur together. Let’s shift away from the lack mindset and old paradigms. Being a mompreneur is the most rewarding path I could’ve pursued — and I can’t wait to share my secrets to success with you all. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
